  • Photoshop & Photography Basics         
    Thursday, February 2, 2017 @ 11 am to 12:30 pm:

    Instructor: Erika Tsuchiya | Bio
    Learn how to 'compose' better images with your camera. Learn basic camera techniques and tools, such as Photoshop, to enhance your images for personal creativity, class projects, and research. This will be a hands on workshop and space is limited so, register early. No experience required in Photoshop or photographyAvailable to all students, faculty, and staff.

 

  • Intro to Editing Video
    Thursday, February 16 @ 11 am to 12:30 pm

    Instructor: Erika Tsuchiya | Bio
    Learn the basics of video editing for course projects, research, social media, or storytelling. Using Adobe Premiere Pro, you will learn to navigate the interface and the tools. In addition you will learn about basic video editing concepts and techniques, and how to achieve good sound when shooting your video. 

 

  • Intro to Shooting Video        
    Thursday, February 23 @ 11 am to 12:30 pm: 

    Instructor: Erika Tsuchiya | Bio
    Learn the basics of how to effectively shoot video for course projects, research, social media, or storytelling. Topics will include cameras, sound, lighting, and effective storytelling through scripts, storyboard, shotlist and shot composition. This is a great workshop to enhance personal creativity or prepare for a class projects or research. Space is limited so, register early. No experience required in video. Available to all students, faculty, and staff. (This event was originally scheduled February 9th @ 11 am. The date was changed due to inclement weather.)

 

  • Introduction to Mobile App Development 
    Thursday, March 2 @ 11 to 12:30 pm:

    Instructor: Dan Read and Christian Marin, Founders of fitDegree
    Have a great idea for an app but don't know where to begin? This 1 ½ hour workshop taught by the creators of fitDEGREE, will give you the fundamental knowledge of bringing your idea from just a concept to a polished product! Topics will include refining your idea, designing your user interface, creating a seamless user experience and then finally the process of prototyping and development. ALL levels of experience will benefit from this workshop!

 

  • Getting Started with Adobe Illustrator    
    Wednesday, March 8, 2017 @ 11 am to 12:30 pm:

    Instructor: Jooahn Kwon | Bio
    Have you ever wanted to design a professional graphic or logo for a school project, a business card, or even a t-shirt? Adobe Illustrator is the answer. In this workshop you will quickly learn the basics of using this powerful program. Topics will include navigating the interface, using shape building tools, drawing with the pen tool, and adding color and text. By the end of this 1 1/2 hour workshop you will have created your first amazing illustration. 

 

  • Basics of Photoshop

    In this workshop we will explore the amazing world of Adobe Photoshop. We will cover examples of what is possible, how to get access to this power program, and you will also gain valuable experience with the most utilized editing tools and techniques. In addition, we will explore editing principles, best practices, and professional tips of editing your photos for course projects and personal creativity.   • Creating a Website with Tumblr    
    Wednesday, April 5th @ 11 to 12:30 pm:
    Instructor: Justin Visentin | Bio
    For those who are looking for a way to collect inspiration, share content, and build an online community, Tumblr is the platform for you. Since 2007 this dynamic hosting platform has been used by countless artists, musicians, writers, teachers, businesses, and even large organizations to engage with the world around them. In this workshop you will learn the strengths of Tumblr and how you can use it to share content, develop communities, and even build a brand. You will also experience the process of creating your own Tumblr account, uploading content, and the many ways you can engage with this diverse social media platform.

 

  • Creativity and Awareness: The Natural Creative Self  
    Thursday, April 13 @ 3 pm to 4:30 pm:

    Daniel Chard with new paintingIn this Creativity "Talk", internationally known artist Daniel Chard, will explore the nature of creativity and developing a creative life. Through studying creative behavior and creative people we can gain insight into the blocks that have us stuck in predictable lives, essentially our own perpetual Groundhog Day. This talk sets the groundwork for making clear choices in our lives, opening creative possibilities, whether we are somewhat experienced with creative behavior or whether we feel very much on the sidelines in understanding and participating in a creative life. We can come to see that creative behavior is a natural behavior, a reflection of the nature of all things, and a source for a happy, fun and fulfilling life. In discovering creativity we discover our true nature. This event is open to all students, faculty, and staff. Space is limited, so register early.

 

  • Creativity Talk: The Art of Play, Experimenting, and Mistakes     
    Thursday, April 20 @ 3 pm to 4:30 pm:

    Nancy Ohanian | Bio 
    In this "Creativity Talk", nationally syndicated political artist, Nancy Ohanian, will describe the creative process – playing, exploring, and making mistakes – which directs her thinking toward visual solutions in political art. She will explore questions such as, "What does it mean to be directed by the creative process?", "How can play and mistakes influence making new creative connections?", and "How do artists make conceptual choices?" You will have an opportunity to receive a free signed art print of Nancy’s political illustrations. This event is open to all students, faculty, and staff. Space is limited, so register early.
