Engineering books are available through the library in two formats: e-books which can be read online through the library website, and physical books which are shelved in Campbell Library on the fourth floor in the "T" section.
This page explains various ways to find library books.
Engineering and science books available for borrowing by students and faculty are shelved on the 4th floor of Campbell Library. General books on civil engineering, including statics and structural engineering textbooks, are in the TA section. Hydraulic engineering is in TC, environmental technology in TD, highway engineering in TE, bridge engineering in TG, and building construction in TH. Geology is in QE, and environmental sciences are in GE (on the 3rd floor). We also have a growing collection of e-books which you can read on your computer or mobile device.
Use Library Search to identify the book you need. Print books will list a call number starting with one of the two letter codes described above, followed by additional numbers and letters which will be on the spine label of the book. Take the book to the first floor service desk to check it out using your Rowan card.
Use the search box labeled Library Search on the Campbell Library home page (www.lib.rowan.edu/campbell) to search for books.
Enter topic keywords in the Library Search box, such as "electric vehicles."
When the results list is displayed, go to the left sidebar to refine your results.
Limit to books by checking Books under the Resource Type limiter, then selecting Apply Filter. (In some cases you may have to use the Show More button to see the Books resource type.)
Click on the availability link of the book you are interested in, which may be Available Online or Available in Campbell Library Stacks.
To limit further to e-books only, check the box for Available Online under the Limit To facet.
To limit further to print books only, check the box for Held in the Library under the Limit To facet.
Use the search box labeled Library Search on the Campbell Library home page (www.lib.rowan.edu/campbell) to search for books.
Example 1 - a print book
Enter a title in Library Search box such as "Bridge Monitoring: A Practical Guide."
First result is this book in print format - click on link that says Available Campbell Library Stacks (3rd - 4th floors) TG305.M53 2016.
Go up to the 4th floor, find the TG row, and find the book with spine label TG305.M53 2016.
Example 2 - an e-book
Enter a title in Library Search box such as "Sustainable Mass Transit."
First result is this e-book - click on link that says Available Online.
Scroll to middle of page where it says View Online, click on "Ebook Central Ebooks."
Read the book online or download it to read.
NOTE: If you have a complete citation for a book, you can use the Citation Search form located in the Search Tools section of the Campbell Library home page to find it.
