  • Introduction to Mathematica    
    Tuesday, September 12, 2017  @ 11 to 12:30 pm:

    In this workshop, we will take a hands-on approach to Mathematica, a mathematical computational program. A brief introduction to Mathematica will be provided. The workshop is designed in such a way that students and faculty members will start to learn Mathematica in a few easy steps. We will also explore where you can get access to the software.This is a hands on workshop and space is limited so register early. Available to all students, faculty, and staff.

 

  • Photoshop Essentials

    In this workshop we will explore the amazing world of Adobe Photoshop. We will cover examples of what is possible, how to get access to this powerful program, and you will also gain valuable experience with the most utilized editing tools and techniques. In addition, we will explore editing principles, best practices, and professional tips of editing your photos for course projects and personal creativity. This will be a hands on workshop and space is limited so, register early. No experience required in Photoshop or photography. Available to all students, faculty, and staff.

    Instructor: Erika Tsuchiya | Bio
    Learn the basics of how to effectively 
    shoot video for course projects, research, social media, or storytelling. Topics will include cameras, sound, lighting, and effective storytelling through scripts, storyboard, shotlist and shot composition. This is a great workshop to enhance personal creativity or prepare for a class projects or research. Space is limited so, register early. No experience required in video. Available to all students, faculty, and staff.

 

  • Free Video Streaming Services through the Rowan Libraries  
    Thrusday, September 21, 2017 @ 11 am to 12:30 pm: 
    Instructor: Jennifer Matthews | Bio
    This workshop will cover many of the free video streaming services available through Rowan Libraries. These services offer free access to a wide range of (full) movies, television shows, documentaries, historical video, and learning material that can be used for personal enrichment or used in research and course presentations. You will learn how to access the services, search titles, and view videos. We will also explore a variety of useful tools, such as making and editing clips for presentations. 

 

  • Getting Started with Adobe Illustrator  
    Monday, September 25, 2017 @ 11 am to 12:30 pm:

    Instructor: Jooahn Kwon | Bio
    Have you ever wanted to design a professional graphic or logo for a school project, a business card, or even a t-shirt? Adobe Illustrator is the answer. In this 
    workshop you will quickly learn the basics of using this powerful program. Topics will include navigating the interface, using shape building tools, drawing with the pen tool, and adding color and text. By the end of this 1 1/2 hour workshop you will have created your first amazing illustration. 

 

  • Researching with Policy Map: An online mapping tool

    Instructor: Betsy Minnich | Bio
    This introductory workshop will provide an overview of PolicyMap, an online tool for mapping data and demographics in a wide variety of professions, such as marketing, real estate, health, finance, and government planning. We will review features and functionality including the creation of Maps, Tables, Reports and 3-Layer Maps. Searching by census tract, block groups and other boundaries, as well as, the creation of custom regions. Finally, you will learn about how to import and upload your own data.

     
  • Introduction to Rowan Digital Works

    Rowan Digital Works is Rowan University’s institutional repository. It is a showcase for Rowan University’s faculty, researcher and student scholarship and creative works. In this workshop, attendees will learn about the repository and benefits of using it, researcher profiles, various repository functionalities that can be used to publish open access journals, conference proceedings, and research datasets. The workshop will also touch upon the changing landscape of scholarly communication, green and gold open access, copyright and creative commons license giving context to the implementation of Rowan Digital Works.

    Learn the basics of video editing for course projects, research, social media, or storytelling. Using Adobe Premiere Pro, you will learn to navigate the interface and the tools.
    In addition you will learn about basic video editing concepts and techniques, and how to achieve good sound when shooting your video. 

 

  • Editing Video in iMovie     
    Tuesday, October 3,

    Instructor: Michael Benson | Bio
    Learn the basics of video editing for course projects, research, social media, or storytelling. Using Apple’s iMovie software, you will learn to navigate the interface and the tools.
    In addition you will learn about basic video editing concepts and techniques, and how to import your video from a video camera and a mobile device. 

     

  • Introduction to Mobile App Development

    Have a great idea for an app but don't know where to begin? This 1 ½ hour workshop taught by the creators of 
    fitDEGREE, will give you the fundamental knowledge of bringing your idea from just a concept to a polished product! Topics will include refining your idea, designing your user interface, creating a seamless user experience and then finally the process of prototyping and development. ALL levels of experience will benefit from this workshop!

 

  • Scholarly Communications

    The area of scholarly communication has been undergoing rapid change in the last several years impacting the scholarly communication lifecycle as well as traditional models of publishing. In this workshop, attendees will learn about the context of the changing landscape in scholarly communication, green and gold open access, copyright, creative commons licenses, some tools and services available to manage the scholarly communication lifecycle. The workshop aims to raise awareness about these issues and give thoughtful consideration to how they might manage their scholarly communication lifecycle in a more informed manner.
