Library Research for Introduction to Cell Biology (Formerly Biology 3)

This guide will help you with your Biology 3 "Walking through the Literature Project."  It will explain the different types of literature (or information/articles published on an academic topic), show you where to find articles, and let you know where to get additional help.

There are three types of Science Literature (articles):

• Primary (Research)
• Secondary (Review)
• Tertiary (Intended for General Public) 

Peer-reviewed articles:

• Published in academic journals
• Use the language of the field they were published in
• Written by professionals for professionals
• Reviewed by professionals before publication
