for an outstanding book in the history of China proper, Vietnam, Chinese Central Asia, Mongolia, Manchuria, Korea, or Japan, substantially after 1800, sponsored by American Historical Association.
one for works whose main focus is on China before 1900 and the other for works on post-1900 China, sponsored by Association for Asian Studies
for the most distinguished book on South Asian history published in English, American Historical Association
for the best book published in the two previous calendar years, originating in the North American scholarly community, which presents original research on any period in the history of Christianity, or makes a significant synthesizing scholarly contribution.
The Association recognizes a wide variety of distinguished historical work, which can take the form of an exceptional book in the field, distinguished teaching and mentoring in the classroom, and even on film. Since 1896 the Association has conferred over a thousand awards.

Created in 1999, the World History Association Bentley Book Prize recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of world history. In 2012, the WHA Book prize was renamed in memory of Jerry H. Bentley and his significant contributions to the field of world history and the World History Association.
