A user guide to computing, printing, scanning, and related technology services in Campbell Library.

Introduction

Please note that Campbell Library is currently under renovation. 

The technology services described on these pages will remain available to faculty, students, and staff for as long as we can.

At some point in the Fall, much of the library's public areas will close and these services will be suspended or temporarily located elsewhere.

Computers

Logging In

Rowan Faculty Staff and Students are required to use their Rowan NetID when logging into lab computers.
Visitors can request a temporary login at the library information desk that will last several hours.

Rowan Faculty, Staff, Students, and Visitors can connect their own laptops and other devices to the Rowan Wi-Fi connection.

Applications and Programs Available

The PCs (218,219,240) and Macs (240) in the public labs at Campbell Library have the Academic Desktop

Room 138 is a a hybrid room. It's only an open lab when no classes are scheduled. It has a specialized desktop.

Faculty, staff, and students have access to additional software through Rowan's Virtual Desktop from either a personal or a Rowan managed computer. Visit go.rowan.edu/citrix for a list of applications and access instructions.

Technology enhanced classrooms frequently have specialized software installed and usually available as open computing labs when classes are not scheduled.

Several walk up print stations are available in Campbell Library.
Students are granted $40 a semester for free printing. After that that balance is exceeded the price is 10 cents per page.

Printing Issues?

Document DIDN'T print (comes out blank, paper jams, etc.)?

users can send an email to ruprint@rowan.edu within 30 minutes.

  • Subject line: Lab Reprint
  • Body of the message should include:
    • Username

    • Time you clicked “print”

    • Name and type of job (DOC, PDF, etc.)

    • Building/room where you tried to print

IT Support staff will process your email message and resend your document to the printer.

How To Print

To print, upload your document to mobileprint.rowan.edu, swipe your RowanCard at a campus printing kiosk and you're done. For FAQs, visit go.rowan.edu/printing

Campbell Library has several scanners throughout the building for faculty, staff and students to use at no charge.

Scanning Information

  • Multiple file formats are available for saving scanned items

  • Export options include USB, Google Drive, or email

  • Scannx scanning does not require a Rowan ID card but will require a Rowan NetID to send through email

  • The HP Copier is not for printing. It only allows copying and scanning. 

Classrooms

Technology Enhanced Classrooms (TEC)

There are six Technology Enhanced Classrooms (TEC) in Campbell Library ; see locations below. The TEC's have a lecture podium computer, ceiling mounted projectors, and surround sound speakers; (525 is a conference style room with a flat-screen TV). Accessories in these rooms include podium mounted projector pixie remotes, mounted projector screens, and laptop connection plates that support personal laptops. For personal laptops; Audio (3.5mm), Video (VGA), and Ethernet cables are located inside the podium drawer. HDMI is supported but cables are not supplied.

Troubleshooting

 

  • If the projector and/or computer monitor is blank:
    • Check that the computer, computer monitor, and projector are all turned on (even if you only wish to use one display; once you fix the issue you can turn off the other).
    • Check that the source is on the correct input via projector pixie controller.
    • Now you should see at least one display. 
    • Lastly, set your windows display options to "Duplicate" to mirror the computer and projector's display (see image below). Extend option will act as two separate displays. 

If the windows shortcut is not working, right click on the desktop and select "Screen Resolution". For personal Mac laptops, the shortcut for duplicate display is Command + F1 (or Alt + Command + F1); alternatively, go to your display options. 

  • For audio, be sure to turn the speakers on via the front of the podium. Please turn off after use. 
  • Rowan NetID is required for logging in to the podium computer. 
  • Please turn off projector immediately after use.

Campbell Library has a recording booth that faculty, students and staff can reserve for making audio and video recordings. 

Due to the nature of the reservation process, you must reserve the item at least two days ahead of your planned use.

Additional Information

Devices for Loan

Technology and equipment is available for loan at the 1st-floor Information Desk. Each piece of equipment has specific loaning periods and most of the equipment cannot be removed from the Campbell Library. The borrower is responsible for the cost of lost or damaged items. Only one of each item can be checked out at a time.
