Bureau of Justice Statistics

The Bureau of Justice Statistics publishes information on crime, criminal offenders, victims of crime, and the operation of justice systems.

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)

The mission : “to protect and defend the United States against terrorist and foreign intelligence threats and to enforce the criminal laws of the United States.”

Federal Bureau of Prisons

The Federal Bureau of Prisons protects society by confining offenders in the controlled environments of prisons and community-based facilities that are safe, humane, cost-efficient, and appropriately secure, and that provide work and other self-improvement opportunities to assist offenders in becoming law-abiding citizens.

Financial Crimes Enforcement Network

FinCEN’s mission is to safeguard the financial system from illicit use and combat money laundering and promote national security through the collection, analysis, and dissemination of financial intelligence and strategic use of financial authorities. Part of the Dept. of the Treasury

Homeland Security Digital Library

WIth wide ranging responsibilities the duties of the department range from aviation and border security to emergency response, from cybersecurity analysis to chemical facility inspection.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement

A section of Homeland Security, ICE promotes homeland security and public safety through the criminal and civil enforcement of federal laws governing border control, customs, trade and immigration.

National Institute of Justice

NIJ provides objective and independent knowledge and tools to reduce crime and promote justice, particularly at the state and local levels. The site includes a vast array of topics related to justice.

National Security Archives

Based at The George Washington University, the Archive publishes declassified documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act. The Archive site has won awards.

NCJRS – The National Criminal Justice Reference Service

Established in 1972, the National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) is a federally funded resource offering justice and drug-related information to support research, policy, and program development worldwide. This site is loaded with information.

A section of the US Dept. of the Treasury, OCC charters, regulates, and supervises all national banks and federal savings associations, and federal branches and agencies of foreign banks, to ensure that they operate in a safe and sound manner and in compliance with laws requiring fair treatment of their customers and fair access to credit and financial products (text from the website).

U.S. Department of the Treasury

Treasury promotes economic growth through policies to support job creation, investment, and economic stability. Treasury also oversees the production of coins and currency, the disbursement of payments to the public, revenue collection, and the funds to run the federal government.

US Drug Enforcement Administration

Responsible for the regulation and enforcement of laws related to controlled subsrtances and illegal drugs and investigate and bring to justice those involved in illegal activities related to drugs and controlled substacnces.
