Reading Lists

Reading Lists in Canvas

Standalone Reading Lists

Reading lists can also be created and accessed outside of Canvas. Please contact Jon Jiras (jiras @rowan.edu) or Tim Dewysockie (dewysockie@rowan.edu) if you would like access to standalone Leganto.

Standalone reading lists can be created and accessed here:
https://rowan.alma.exlibrisgroup.com/leganto/nui/lists?auth=CAS&institute=01ROWU_INST

Note: Restricting access to reading lists to course students is only possible using reading lists in Canvas. You have the option of restricting access to Rowan students, or anyone, using standalone reading lists, but not course students.

Create/Structure a New List

The process for creating a standalone reading list is almost identical to creating one in Canvas. Follow these instructions.

Differences in the process for creating a list in the standalone version are noted below:

Click “Create list” to create a standalone list:

Add a name for your list (description is optional).

Since this will not be linked to a Canvas course and will be accessed outside of Canvas, leave “Link to course” blank:

Adding Citations

Follow the instructions on the Adding Citations page.

Publishing Reading Lists

Follow the instructions on the Publishing Reading Lists page.

Differences in the process for publishing lists in the standalone version are noted below:

Please do not select "Course Students". This is because if there is no course associated with a reading list, then there is no mechanism for students to gain access to it automatically. If you would prefer the list only be accessible to course students, please use Reading Lists in Canvas, not standalone.
