Library Workshops

In addition to hosting the GenAI Learning Community, Rowan University Libraries offers many workshops on GenAI. The workshops are free and open to all, including the general public. View and register for all workshops here.

Fall 2025 Workshops (registration required)

  • Prompt Perfect: Elevating your AI Experience at Rowan University
    • Working with generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Copilot can be frustrating if unsure of how to ask a question (prompt). We will walk you through tips for writing effective prompts. Additional topics will include ethical concerns and limitations in using generative AI tools, and an opportunity to practice and share among attendees. Access workshop slides.
  • Google Notebook LM: What you Need to Know
    • Google Notebook LM is an AI tool that is licensed through Rowan University. Google NoteBook LM can help with creating study guides for courses and engage with up to 50 different sources. Learn how Google Notebook LM can be used to manage information overload. Ethical considerations will be discussed. 
  • In Sources We Trust (Sometimes): Verifying Citations in the Age of AI
    • AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude are powerful research aids—but they sometimes generate citations that don’t actually exist, a phenomenon known as “hallucination.” As these tools become more common in academic work, verifying the accuracy of citations is more important than ever.

Micro-workshops (15 minutes)

  • Introduction to Rowan Approved AI Tools: Copilot
    • Discover Microsoft Copilot's academic applications in this brief hands-on introduction. We'll demonstrate accessing Copilot through our institutional Office 365 environment with a focused example of using it to analyze research data in Excel and generate summary insights. We will explore its use in Word, PowerPoint, and email management. We will discuss proper attribution practices.
  • Introduction to Rowan Approved AI Tools: Firefly
    • Adobe Firefly enables AI-powered visual creation for academic purposes. We will create a custom infographic for a research presentation. We'll explore additional applications including concept diagrams, presentation graphics, and educational visuals. We will discuss citation and attribution aspects.​​​​
  • Introduction to Rowan Approved AI tools: Google Gemini
    • We will demonstrate a live example of using Gemini to synthesize research literature on a specific topic, showing how to craft effective prompts and evaluate responses. We will share use cases including research question generation, data interpretation, and writing assistance. We will discuss citations, institutional policies, and proper disclosure in papers and presentations.
