Library Search: Help

A guide to using the search tool Library Search.

Browse

The Browse view will show a title, author, or subject that you search for, along with other possible options in our collection that are next to the one you searched for alphabetically. Authors are always listed with their last name first.

For example, if you search for "Morrison, Toni" in the Browse view, you might see a list of results from the library starting from Morrison, Todd G., and continuing through Morrison, Trevor W. Subtopics about Toni Morrison will appear under her name as well.

This view can be especially helpful for searching for subjects, because it may suggest related topics that you did not think to include. For example, searching by subject for "feminism" also returns a list of subtopics associated with feminism, such as "feminism 21st century" and feminism in various nations worldwide.
