LinkedIn Learning is more than an online video training service. It can be used in courses to fosters collaboration, sharing, and communal knowledge. You can use its Collection feature to develop collections of courses and videos on a specific topic, which can be used to organize and share content with your students. The playlist can then be shared through a Canvas course. This tutorial will take you step by step through the process of creating a LinkedIn Learning Collection.
To create a Collection you will need to first login to LinkedIn Learning >> Access to Linked In Learning
1) Once in the LinkedIn Learning platform go to My Library which is found on the left side on the page under Home.
2) Go to My Collections tab.
3) Once there a new window will open. Click "Create New Collections."
4) The "Create a new collection" window will open. Enter your title and description of the collection. Then press the Create button.
5) You will then be redirected back to the "My Collections" page showing the new collection.
6) We now need to find courses to add to the collection. We do this by going to the top of the page to the Search menu. Then add keywords for the type of course or videos you want to add. Here I am entering "Photoshop."
7) Once we do a search, this Photoshop course appears at the top of the listing.
Click the title of the course to open it.
8) After opening the course you can add it to the collection by clicking the + symbol.
9) The Collections window will then open. Select the Collections tab as seen below.
10) From here we need to add the course to the collection. We do this by selecting the +Add button to add the course to the collection.
11) The course will be added to the collection and press the X to close the window.
12) To add more courses, simply go to the search menu, and find a course or video to repeat the process. Here I am searching using the phrase "Photo editing."
I then located the below course and added it to the collection by selecting the three dots and "Add to your content."
The platform will then take you back to the collection where you can see that another item was entered into the collection.
13) After you added all your content to the collection you can share it through Canvas. To do this, click on the collection name as shown below.
14) The collection will open. Then select the Share button as seen below.
15) The below window will open, which is used to select permissions assigned to a specific group.
We recommend selecting "Rowan University."
The platform will then create a link that you can share in email or within Canvas.
16) If you would like to share the collection within Canvas, you can create an assignment and then create a link using the copied URL as seen above.
Below is an example assignment.
We hope this tutorial helped you create and share a collection for your students.
