Digital Scholarship Center: Canvas: How to add a LinkedIn Learning Course or video to Canvas course

This tutorial will introduce you to adding a LinkedIn Learning course or video to a Canvas course.

1. First, log in to Rowan University's LinkedIn Learning system. ( Directions on how to log in to Rowan's LinkedIn Learning )
    
2. Once within the LinkedIn Learning system, search for the course or video you would like to share within Canvas.
   
   
   
   
   
   
    
3. Select the course or video within LinkedIn Learning that you want. In this specific case, I selected the 2025 Photoshop Essential Training course.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
    
4. Once the course or video opens, copy the URL.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
    
5. Log in to Rowan University's Canvas system. ( Directions on how to log in to Canvas )
   
    
6. Once logged in to Canvas, go to the course that you would like to share a LinkedIn Learning course or video with. 
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
    
7. Create an assignment
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
    
8. Name the assignment and add the text for a link.
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
    
9. Highlight the text
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
    
10. Create the link using this icon and then select "External Link."
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
     
11. A window will open. Paste the course or video link. Then press "Done."
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
     
12. You will then be redirected back to the Assignment window. Scroll down to "Submission Type" and select "Website URL."
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
     
13. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Save button, if you would like to review your work, or click "Save & Publish" if you are ready for the assigment to be published.
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
     
14. To publish the assignment, you can either click "Save & Publish," or scroll to the top of the page and click "Publish."
    
    This is the publish button before the assignment is published. Select this button to publish the page.
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    Once the page is published, the button will appear as follows.
    
    
    
    
    
    
     
15. To test the link, go to the top of the page and click "View as Student."
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    The assignment will then open as if you are the student. Click the link to test.
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
     
16. Once you click the link, a new browser window will open, displaying the LinkedIn Learning course. The student's Canvas course will remain open, allowing them to review the assignment while watching the LinkedIn Learning videos.
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
     
17. Please note that some students may receive the following message to log in to LinkedIn Learning. The student will need to enter their Rowan email address.
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    You will then see the following message. Since your student is already logged into Canvas, the LinkedIn Learning course or video should open automatically. 
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    
    The course or video should open in a new browser window.
