Being able to submit an assignment is essential to college survival. Not knowing how to do this properly can result in the failure of that class.
- Open up your canvas dashboard.
- Click on the specific class you want. On the left-hand side, there should be a menu. Click on assignments.
- You can view all past, current, and upcoming assignments for that specific class in the assignment tab. The assignments will be organized according to the type of assignment it is. So all DQs will be listed together and all quizzes, exams, and so forth. The assignments will also be listed chronologically.
- You can also view any past, current or upcoming assignments in the modules tab found on the menu located on the left-hand side. Assignments will be ordered based on modules or chapters. Therefore, as you progress into different chapters in that class, you should also go to a different module.
- Depending on the type of assignment the submission is different.
DQ:
- Click on the specific DQ you would like to complete. There will be a question posted with particular directions on answering it. This varies based on each professor.
- Click on REPLY, then type out your response to the question asked. You can also attach an image or link in this reply box, insert a table, or add equations by simply clicking on the insert section.
- Some professors require you to respond to your classmates on the Discussion Board. To do so, find the comment of interest and press reply (located directly under the comment). You will then be able to type whichever response you choose. After you type your answer, press POST REPLY to submit.
QUIZ/EXAM:
- Click on the specific quiz/exam you would like to complete. It will bring you to a menu that shows precisely how much time you have to complete the quiz/exam, the due date, the number of questions, how many points this assignment is worth and specific instructions from your professor. Once you are ready, press start to begin.
- After completing the assignment, you should see how much time you spent, and if possible, you can reattempt the assignment (not an option for all quizzes/exams). You may also be able to view your grade immediately (not an option for all quizzes/exams).
ASSIGNMENTS:
- Ways to submit assignments differ based on the specific class. Most classes attach a pdf document detailing the assignment details separately.
- Clicking on ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTION will take you to a different website detailing exactly how that professor wants you to complete the assignment.
- Clicking on ASSIGNMENT will take you to a page to submit your assignment in a document form. Once you submit your assignment, it will be graded by your professor (this may take days-weeks depending on the professor). After grading, you will then see your grade and any feedback/comments left by your professor.
- To complete other assignments, you must go to a different website and complete the assignment before the due date.
- After clicking on LAB ASSIGNMENT, you are directed to a new browser where you can complete the assignment (in most classes that offer an external application to complete assignments, you must pay & subscribe for those features).
- After completing the assignment, it will be graded by your professor (this may take days-weeks depending on the professor). After grading, you will then see your grade and any feedback/comments left by your professor.
Tip: Be sure to check daily for assignments, and you may write assignments in a planner to help stay organized.
