Canvas: How to Message a Professor

Messaging a professor through canvas is helpful for anyone wanting to ask questions, report any issues or check-in. Messaging a professor on canvas is essential to college survival and helps build relationships with your professors.

 

  1. Open up your canvas dashboard.

  2. On the left-hand side, there should be a menu. Click on Inbox to access your message center. In your Inbox is where you will see multiple messages from each of your classes. You can filter the messages by class to help sort them out.

  3. To send a professor a message, you must click on the icon in the upper right corner of the screen. This icon helps draft your message.

  4. After composing the message, press send. 

 

Tip: Don't forget to add a subject, a greeting, and a goodbye to your professor. Be sure to be formal and polite in all messages
