Rowan University Libraries defines “digital scholarship” as the use of digital tools, instructional design, library science, and research methods to critically investigate and interpret ideas, and to create, curate, or publish scholarly products and unique learning experiences.
We consider digital scholarship as a broad concept that integrates emerging digital technologies, design, library science, and publishing with the traditional scholarly processes of exploring and discovery, synthesizing and interpreting, practice and application, and sharing and teaching to broaden understanding and knowledge. We also view digital scholarship as an interdisciplinary process applicable to all disciplines, and that digital scholarship can be used to build new connections between disciplines and encourage collaboration and creative thinking.
